From time to time I use ‘finishers’ at the end of a workout to push myself (and clients) to the limit. Finishers vary depending upon the nature of the session but are designed to be a challenge and to use up any remaining energy at the end of the session.
Here is an example of a simple cardio finisher I have used this week (simple but not easy!):
Name – Ascending ladder 1-10
With a ‘ladder Finisher’ you gradually climb up the reps as you work your way through the session. So start at 1 rep of each then 2 reps of each etc, till you complete 10 reps of each exercise.
The ladder can consist of any number of exercises but in this example we have used 2 exercises – Burpees and 20m sprints.
Set 2 cones/markers 20m apart. Start with 1 sprint followed by 1 burpee, then 2 of each and so on. Time how long it takes to get to 10 reps of both.
I will post some times of clients effort below, feel free to give it a go and post your times too!
